What is Reiki?

Reiki translated into English literally means “divine energy”. Rei meaning divine, spirit or soul and Ki meaning vital energy or consciousness. Reiki is a Japanese technique used for stress reduction, which produces a calming effect over the body, promoting healing on every level of the being. A hands-on technique is used to funnel universal energy to the person receiving treatment to help boost their own life force energy. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, health and happiness are more easily accessible.

The best analogy for what Reiki is and how it can help in your life is imagining your car battery dies (pretty easy to imagine in Alberta where it’s cold). Typically when this happens, you get some jumper cables and attach them to a friend’s car. Then, you attach those cables to your car in order to boost your battery and get it running again. This is essentially how Reiki works. Your life force battery is down (energy running low) and needs a boost so the universal energy is coming from “your friend’s car” with the Reiki practitioner being the jumper cables to transmit it to you.

What does Reiki feel like?

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit.

What can Reiki help?

It has been known to have positive effects on heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean blood pressure, cardiac vagal tone, cardiac sensitivity to baroreflex, skin temperature and respiration rate.

Reiki Precept:

Take a big breath in and then exhale it out. Take a big breath in and exhale as you repeat the following: “Today only, do not anger, do not worry. With thankfulness, work diligently, be kind to others, including myself”. Take a big breath in and then exhale it out. Take a big breath in and exhale it out repeating the precept again. Do this sequence of breaths with the precept 3X every morning as a beautiful way to start your day.

What is a Freedom Session?

Join Katie Jolicoeur for an hour of grounding and connection to SELF. Your one on one Freedom Sessions are personalized to your needs, combining the healing practices of yoga, meditation, and Reiki. Using these tools you will work collaboratively with Katie to design a treatment plan that will support you, wherever you are at now and guide you to where you want to be. No yoga, meditation or Reiki experience necessary.

What is Distance Reiki?

Join Karen Chouinard to experience the benefits of Reiki without the limits of time or space.

Text your full name, a picture of your handwritten intention for the session in the form of an "I am" statement, and a picture of yourself to Karen at (780) 690-0601. During your scheduled time Karen will complete a 45 minute Distance Reiki session for you. You can sit or lie comfortably during the scheduled time or simply be conscious of the session as you go about your day.
